Since 1992, our mission here at Coastal Expeditions has been to share the intricacies of the local ecosystem to enrich, educate, and develop advocates for the environment. Since that time, we have taken people like you out into the saltwater estuaries and blackwater rivers of the Lowcountry -by boat, kayak and paddleboard- while keeping with our mission of environmental stewardship and education. Throughout the year, Coastal Expeditions donates to conservation groups, both monetarily and in time. Groups like Coastal Conservation League, The Nature Conservancy, and Lowcountry Land Trust and Open Land Institute.
Looking for a truly unique venue? Tucked back in Shem Creek, Coastal Expeditions has a charming outdoor event space that overlooks quintessential Lowcountry marsh views. The event space can be used for formal seated gatherings such as a rehearsal dinner, birthday, anniversary, or corporate groups. Or can be used more casually; your guests paddle until they’re worn out, and head back to the private dock for your catered food. For your smaller gatherings, a kayak, SUP, or canoe afternoon complete with dolphin sightings and breathtaking sunsets on the water would make for a great party!
The best way to explore a water town is by the water, of course! If you’re looking for paradise, you’ll find it here. Imagine watching dolphins feed in a saltwater creek by kayak or canoe, or a sunset paddleboard cruise through the beautiful Shem Creek. If you’d prefer, take a tour on our powerboat with our expert guides to the Boneyard on Bulls Island. You truly haven’t seen Charleston yet until you’ve seen it by water! Whether it’s a fun dolphin kayak or SUP excursion, a family tour from the Isle of Palms or a multi-day adventure into Charleston’s nearby wilderness, our guides have you covered and will ensure that you have a safe and memorable experience!
