Charleston is national treasure. Beauty, history and romance are all around us. Many travel to Charleston to celebrate their love and special occasions here for that very reason. Many of us are lucky enough to live here and have so many special places to celebrate our special moments.

The beautiful Wentworth Mansion, founded in 1886, houses the lovely Circa 1886 restaurant. Middleton Place, is an 18th century plantation and America’s oldest formal landscaped gardens. It boasts unparalleled views of the Ashley River and a number of secluded areas that appear as if they were plucked right out of a fairytale. Middleton Place is a carefully restored 18th-century plantation that was built by Henry Middleton in 1741. The building has survived revolution, civil war, and earthquake and was the home of four generations of Middletons. One, Arthur Middleton, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence! From intimate gatherings to grand affairs, the grounds, the grand house, and the inn provide all you need for a glorious event. Grand fairytale weddings, Low Country Oyster Roasts, casual Stable Yards Receptions or birthday parties are all amazing ways to celebrate here.
Lowndes Grove Plantation, built approximately in 1786, is a Gothic stunner. Located in downtown Charleston and enveloped in 14 acres of live oak groves dripping in Spanish moss and surrounded by peaceful Ashley River views, is a magnificent sight. It will enchant you and your guests. The sunsets over the river are spectacular and can be enjoyed from numerous locations on the grounds, the sunlit gardens, the broad piazza and the relaxed and refined home itself. Governor Thomas Bennet House
The Governor Thomas Bennet House, circa 1825, is one of the grandest and most beautiful houses in downtown Charleston. The house is an wonderful example of Federal style architecture, which drew on European trends as well as ancient Greek and Roman architectural details. Thomas Bennet Jr., mayor of Charleston from 1812 to 1813, a member of the South Carolina House and governor of SC was also an exceptional architect and he designed the house during his term as Governor.
There are many ways to hold an enchanting event here. Host a cocktail reception on the delightful Piazza, a seated dinner in the Crescent Garden around the fountain or a large reception on the Side Lawn. The Governor Thomas Bennett House offers endless options for your next event. Located on the ground floor just off the courtyard, the Bennett House also offers a conference room with separate meal and reception space are available in the House, on the Piazza or in the Courtyard. For a wedding. the Crescent Garden is a lovely setting for an outdoor ceremony around the pineapple fountain and under the shade of a 200 year old oak. Follow the ceremony, and invite guests into the house for cocktail hour and hold the reception outdoors on the side lawn adjacent to the Crescent Garden. Sounds like a romantic way to celebrate in a historic setting.
